Glance at Tokyo
The Sumida river, 27 km long (17 miles), flows through Tokyo. Its impact in Tokyo’s economy remains low. Part of the climate program « 10-year project for a green Tokyo », its banks have been revitalized.
26 bridges, more or less one per kilometer, have been built to fit with the Tokyo traffic needs.
From a higher spot, we realise how spread out and dense is the urban area of Tokyo. A solution to the metropolis sprawl has been to encourage verticality and tower constructions.
Some special and modern constructions make Tokyo’s urban scenery unique as the Tokyo skytree and the golden flame designed by the French Philippe Starck.
